NIOS Consultant Recruitment Overview

The National Institute of Open Schooling has invited applications for five Consultant positions in its Vocational Education Department. Each position will be filled on a contractual basis for an initial period of six months.

Consultant – Engineering & Technology

Essential qualification

  • M.E. or M.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline; or
  • B.Tech or B.E. with MBA from a recognised institution.

Experience

Minimum two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, content writing, conducting training or programme implementation in the engineering domain.

Desirable skills

  • Development of Qualification Files and Qualification Packs
  • Knowledge of NCVET and Sector Skill Council guidelines
  • Academic writing and content-development skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office and AI-based tools
  • Understanding of industry standards and emerging technologies

Consultant – Education & Training

Essential qualification

  • Master’s degree in Education or M.Ed.; or
  • Master’s degree in any discipline with B.Ed.
  • The applicant must also have qualified CTET or STET.

Experience

Minimum two years of teaching experience involving teacher training, capacity building, instructional design or programme implementation in education or vocational training.

Primary responsibilities

  • Reviewing teacher-training curricula and learning materials
  • Developing practical manuals and assessment frameworks
  • Coordinating with experts, industry representatives and regulators
  • Supporting trainer capacity-building programmes and workshops

Consultant – IT-ITeS

Essential qualification

Candidates should possess one of the following qualifications from a recognised university or institution:

  • MCA
  • M.Tech in IT, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • BCA
  • B.Tech in Computer Applications, Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering

Experience

Minimum two years of experience in the IT-ITeS sector, preferably involving curriculum development, content writing, training, instructional design or programme implementation.

Desirable knowledge

  • AI tools and emerging technologies
  • Cloud computing and data analytics
  • Qualification Packs and NCVET guidelines
  • Vocational curriculum and assessment development

Consultant – Health & Wellness

Essential qualification

Master’s degree in Health, Public Health, Nutrition, Allied Health Sciences or a related field from a recognised university or institution.

Experience

Minimum two years of experience in health, wellness, nutrition or allied health sectors, preferably involving curriculum development, training or instructional design.

Primary responsibilities

  • Reviewing vocational health and wellness curricula
  • Preparing course content, practical manuals and assessments
  • Identifying new employment roles and vocational courses
  • Coordinating with healthcare organisations and sector experts
  • Supporting training programmes and sector-specific workshops

Consultant – NSQF & Regulatory Compliance

Essential qualification

Candidates should possess one of the following:

  • Master’s degree in any discipline
  • B.E., B.Tech or BCA with MBA
  • LLB
  • Chartered Accountancy qualification

Applicants should also possess good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Experience

Minimum two years of relevant regulatory, policy, planning, implementation, supervision or monitoring experience. Experience may be from government, NCVET, Sector Skill Councils, education, skilling, development, legal, finance, technology or international-development work.

Desirable qualification

MBA, M.E., M.Tech, LLM, other postgraduate qualifications, research experience, published papers or additional relevant post-qualification experience will be preferred.
