Educational Qualification
Applicants should possess:
- MBBS degree; and
- Postgraduate degree, DNB, diploma, postdoctoral degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant speciality.
- The qualification must be from an institution or university recognised by NMC/MCI.
- Candidates should preferably possess Delhi Medical Council registration for the relevant speciality or super-speciality.
- The postgraduate course tenure must be completed and its result declared before the interview date.
Candidates without the specified postgraduate qualification may be considered as Non-PG Senior Residents and appointed for 44 days or until candidates possessing the appropriate postgraduate qualification become available, whichever is earlier.
Special provisions
- For Paediatric Surgery, candidates possessing MCh Paediatric Surgery, DNB or MS General Surgery may be considered according to the notification.
- For Neurosurgery, candidates possessing MCh Neurosurgery, DNB or MS General Surgery may be allowed to participate as specified in the notice.

Application Fee
There is no fee for appearing in the Senior Resident walk-in interview.

Appointment Tenure
- The immediate appointment will initially be for 44 days.
- The appointment may end earlier when a regular Senior Resident joins.
- Total Senior Residency cannot generally exceed three years, including previous regular or ad-hoc Senior Resident service in an NMC-recognised institution.
- Candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency may be considered only under the shortage-related relaxation conditions described in the notification.
A separate merit list may be prepared for fresh candidates and candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency. Fresh candidates will receive priority.
Selection Process

- Medical registration and original-certificate verification before joining
If applications are very high, interviews may continue on the next working day. Candidates should not leave without obtaining instructions from the interview board.
No separate call letter will be issued, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Candidates should carry the completed application form, original documents and self-attested photocopies of the following:
- Recent passport-size photographs – two copies
- MBBS degree and relevant marksheets
- Postgraduate degree, DNB, diploma or postdoctoral qualification
- Postgraduate result and course-completion proof
- Delhi Medical Council registration certificate for the relevant speciality
- DMC registration acknowledgement, if registration is under process
- Date-of-birth certificate
- MBBS and postgraduate attempt certificates
- Caste certificate, if applicable
- Disability certificate, if applicable
- Aadhaar card or another accepted identity document
- Publication and award documents, where applicable
- Experience certificates showing previous Senior Residency service
- No Objection Certificate from the present employer, where applicable
Candidates without DMC registration for their postgraduate qualification should carry proof that they have already applied for the registration. Admission to the interview may be only provisional.
