Professor Eligibility
Professor applicants generally require a Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, along with the prescribed research publications, research score and teaching/research experience under the applicable UGC requirements.
The official recruitment information specifies a minimum of 10 years of teaching and/or equivalent research experience, along with other prescribed academic requirements.
Associate Professor Eligibility
Associate Professor applicants generally require:
- Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline
- Master's degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade
- Minimum eight years of applicable teaching/research experience
- Required research publications and research score under the applicable regulations
Assistant Professor Eligibility
Assistant Professor applicants generally require a Master's degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in the relevant subject together with NET or an eligible Ph.D. exemption under applicable UGC regulations.
IGNOU states that specific eligibility conditions apply to certain disciplines, including Health Sciences and Nursing. Candidates should therefore verify the detailed post-specific eligibility document before applying.
Important Reservation Note
Reservation benefits for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates apply according to Government of India and applicable regulatory norms. Candidates claiming reservation must upload valid supporting documents.
IGNOU specifically states that an OBC-NCL certificate must be issued for the financial year 2026-27, between 1 April 2026 and the closing date of the online application, and must be valid for Central Government/Union of India employment.
