Banks, regulators, ministries, PSUs and public bodies may recruit Law Officers, Legal Assistants, Prosecutors or Legal Executives with post-specific qualifications and experience.
Practice-Based Engagement
Government counsel, panel advocate and legal-aid engagements commonly require active practice and standing at the Bar. Empanelment is not automatically a permanent salaried government job.

Map every topic to the official notice and update older notes for the BNS, BNSS, BSA and current amendments.
Draft pleadings, issues, charges, opinions and judgments; practise applying facts instead of only memorising sections.
Record the issue, ratio, statutory provision and practical effect of important Supreme Court and jurisdictional High Court decisions.
Use official previous papers where available and train separately for objective law, descriptive drafting, language papers, aptitude and viva voce.
Keep all marksheets, degree, enrolment certificate, AIBE/Certificate of Practice records, court appearances, experience letters, CLAT scorecard, ID and category certificates.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can a fresh LL.B. graduate apply for Civil Judge recruitment in 2026?
For notifications issued after the 20 May 2025 judgment and up to 31 March 2027, the Supreme Court’s 21 August 2026 transition directions allow all law graduates to apply notwithstanding the earlier three-year practice condition, subject to every other qualification in the State’s rules and notice. Selected candidates must complete the prescribed academy training and clerkship before regular appointment.
How much practice is required for Civil Judge notifications from 1 April 2027?
The 21 August 2026 Supreme Court judgment directs at least one year of actual practice in District Courts, supported by the prescribed Certificate of Practice. Selected candidates must also undergo one year of State Judicial Academy training followed by one year of structured clerkship.
Is LL.B. enough for IBPS Law Officer?
The official CRP SPL-XVI notice required a bachelor’s degree in Law and enrolment as an advocate with a Bar Council. The 2026 application period is over, and candidates must check the next notice for the qualification cut-off date, age, enrolment and any changed rule.
Can an LL.B. graduate become an Assistant Public Prosecutor?
Yes, when the relevant UPSC, State PSC or prosecution-department notice accepts the candidate. Many prosecutor posts require Bar enrolment and a specified period or type of criminal-court practice, so LL.B. alone may not be sufficient.
Can law graduates join the Indian Army through JAG?
They can apply only when they satisfy the exact JAG course notification. Current requirements can include an accepted law degree and marks, eligibility for Bar registration, a specified CLAT-PG score, age, nationality, marital-status and medical standards.
Does every PSU Law Officer recruitment use CLAT-PG?
No. Some PSUs use a specified CLAT-PG score for shortlisting, while others conduct their own examination or shortlist by marks and experience. The recruiter also decides the accepted LL.B. course, score year, Bar status and experience.
Is a Supreme Court or High Court law clerk a permanent government job?
Usually not. Court clerkships are commonly short-term contractual assignments under a separate scheme. Read the tenure, extension, remuneration, confidentiality and future-employment terms in the current advertisement.
Is AIBE the same as a government-job examination?
No. AIBE relates to the professional framework for practising as an advocate and obtaining the applicable Certificate of Practice. Government and public-sector recruitment uses separate advertisements and selection processes.
Can LL.B. graduates apply for UPSC Civil Services or SSC CGL?
Yes, a recognised LL.B. can satisfy the bachelor’s-degree condition for UPSC Civil Services and most SSC CGL posts. Candidates must still meet the current age, nationality, attempts, subject, physical, medical, computer and other post-specific rules.
Can a distance or online LL.B. be used for advocacy or legal recruitment?
Do not assume acceptance. Verify recognition of the university, law programme, centre and study mode with the Bar Council of India and the recruiting organisation. Keep official recognition evidence for the relevant academic years.
