Salary and Fellowship
Qualifying UGC-NET does not automatically provide a salary, job or fellowship payment. JRF and employment benefits remain subject to the applicable UGC rules, appointment process, document verification and availability of positions.

Qualification
- General, Unreserved and General-EWS candidates normally require at least 55% in a recognised Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
- OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and Third Gender candidates normally require at least 50%.
- Eligible four-year or eight-semester bachelor’s-degree candidates require at least 75%, with the prescribed relaxation for eligible categories.
- Candidates qualifying through a four-year bachelor’s degree are eligible for JRF and PhD admission but not Assistant Professor appointment.
- Result-awaited candidates must complete the qualifying degree within the period prescribed in the information bulletin.
Experience
Previous employment is not a general eligibility requirement. Relevant research experience may be considered only for JRF age relaxation under the conditions stated in the information bulletin.
