Essential Qualification

Consultant – Scientific Non-Medical

Applicants must be professionals with proven competence and success in their area of specialisation.

Candidates must possess a minimum M.Sc., MD or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.

Applicants must also have at least 8 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.

Qualification and experience must be in a relevant discipline and obtained from a recognised or reputed institution or organisation. Experience will be counted only after completion of the minimum essential qualification.

Desirable Qualification and Experience

Experience in research-project execution and management.

Distinguished publication record with a high number of citations and a strong H-index.

Research and Development experience related to Biomedical Sciences in government, public-sector or private institutions.

Experience working with molecular diagnostic platforms.

Experience in tribal-health research or tribal-health-related problems.

Experience in organising training and capacity-building programmes.

Age Limit

Minimum Age 40 Years

Maximum Age 60 Years

Age will be calculated as on the last date for submission of the application form, which is 17 July 2026.

Salary Details

Consolidated Monthly Remuneration ₹80,000 Per Month

The final consolidated remuneration will be recommended by the Selection Committee based on educational qualification, experience and performance in the interview.

For retired government servants, remuneration will be fixed according to the applicable Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure instructions.

Period of Engagement

Initial Contract Period One Year

The engagement is temporary and contractual. It does not provide any right to permanent appointment or regularisation in ICMR-NITHR, ICMR or any government organisation.

Consultants other than retired government employees may be considered for an increase of up to 5% in consolidated remuneration after completion of each annual term, subject to satisfactory performance, renewal and the prescribed remuneration ceiling.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Persons currently serving in a regular time-scale post under any government department or government organisation are not eligible for this contractual consultant engagement.

General Contract Conditions

The Consultant will be engaged on a full-time contractual basis.

The selected person cannot accept another part-time or full-time assignment during the contract period.

Working hours will normally be the same as those applicable to regular ICMR-NITHR employees.

No additional payment will be made for working beyond normal office hours.

Paid leave may be permitted at 1.5 days for each completed month of service, subject to the official conditions.

No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview, joining the assignment or completing the engagement.

Applicable taxes will be deducted at source according to government rules.

The appointment does not provide any claim to regular government employment.

Incorrect or false information may lead to rejection or cancellation of candidature at any stage.
